About

I am an architect based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, and work throughout the north of England. I studied at the University of Sheffield, qualifying in 1993, following which I’ve enjoyed a challenging, rewarding and diverse career.

The day-to-day reality of being an architect makes good use of my creative, artistic and technical skills. I love design and drawing, detail and problem-solving, as well as project management and, of course, working closely with every client to create homes and workplaces that meet individual needs.

My professional journey has been global – architectural skills travel well and over the years I have enjoyed working in Canada, Hong Kong and Australia on projects ranging from mud-brick self-build housing to sky-scrapers, shop fit-outs, schools and libraries.

Latterly (and back on home-turf), my interests have focused on inclusive design and I have a particular interest in improving older and existing buildings to make them more accessible, sustainable and enjoyable for everyone to use. I am a Consultant Member of NRAC (National Register of Access Consultants), an accreditation body established to promote and uphold standards of Access Consultants and Access Auditors.

Many projects require the input of other professionals and I have a network comprising engineers, quantity surveyors and specialist consultants to bring together to form a project team, when required.
